Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.
We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Throughout all of our programs, students will not only learn the necessary skill sets to protect themselves, we stand behind our realistic and practical approach, confident it will enable every member to achieve greatness and live their best life..

Mr. Walter Johnson
Owner and Chief Instructor
I’m the Owner and Chief Instructor of the Rosemount Martial Arts Academy. When I was a child, I began my martial arts journey and the positive impact it had on my life was remarkable. It was always my dream to someday own my own Academy in Rosemount, to create a positive environment for students to build their confidence through learning how to protect themselves. So that they can walk with that confidence in their everyday lives.

- 25 + Years experience in Martial Arts Arts, 20+ years of teaching, since the age of 13!
- 5th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, Gracie Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt Stripe 2, Women Empowered Pink Belt
- Certified ATA Legacy Instructor, Elite School Owner, Level 2 Certified Gracie Jiu Jitsu Instructor
- Business degree from Hamline University
Mr. Mershon
I love training at the Academy, because of the students, staff and total environment. Everyone is there to help each other get better, more like a family than a gym. I love being an instructor, because It’s a way for me to continue to give back, share some knowledge that I have gathered, and help others grow along their own Martial Arts journey, plus help them gain some self-confidence to defend themselves and loved ones.

Ms. L'Heureux
I love training at the Academy, because It’s fun! I’ve made a lot of really good memories. You can build strong relationships with your instructors and the other students. I love helping my students learn and getting to know them throughout their Taekwondo journey. It’s amazing to watch them grow!

Mr. Bacon
I love training at the Academy, because it helps me release energy, better sleep, and the instructors are personable. I love being an assistant instructor, because I enjoy teaching specifically, I like working and connecting with the kids.

Ms. Allie Engel
I am the Academy Administrator. I love the opportunity to engage with our members and help them through their journey. I am here to help and answer your questions, and if I don’t have the answer I will find it for you! I love being a part of the academy because I can help provide an environment that fosters community, camaraderie and positivity.

Ms. Rhodes
I love training at the Academy, because I like the chance to improve myself physically as well as build mental stamina. I love being an instructor as it allows me to work a fulfilling job where I can see myself and the kids I work with grow everyday. Mr. Valle
I love training at the Academy, because it extends your athleticism and you can make friends really easily. I like to be a volunteer instructor because I would like to teach kids the knowledge that I have and make them feel comfortable to share their feelings.

I love training at the Academy, because of Mr J’s leadership training, approach and methodology that I appreciate the most. I love being an instructor because I learn by teaching, and I continue to grow by helping others.
